Phares on BBC Arabic: "Arab forces will have to fight Assad regime and the Iranians to stop the bloodshed in Syria"
Professor Walid Phares on a panel discussion on BBC TV Arabic on the Arab forces potential initiative to intervene in Syria: "If the Arab League decides to dispatch deterrence forces to protect civilians in Syria, without an agreement with the regime, they will have to fight Assad's forces as well as the Iranians. If Arabs wants to save Syrian civilians, they need to prepare themselves well, convince Turkey and urge the US and NATO to extend support and above all, make sure to build support at the Security Council of the UN. Sending Arab forces to Syria should be mandated by the UN or a vast international coalition." Visit Website ]

Phares to al Khabar of Algeria: "Iran threatens the US with military but strikes with terrorists"
In an interview with Algeria leading daily newspaper al Khabar, Professor Walid Phares said:"The Iranian regime threatens the US and the Arabs in the Gulf with military action involving navy, airforce and missiles, but in reality may strikes with terrorist attacks by its proxies in the region including Hezbollah." Phares observed that Tehran escalates till the edge of open confrontation, just before a real physical clashe, then reverts to another maneuver. They want to win as much as they can with threats and intimidations, but are progressing towards their real goals unstopped." Phares indicated that the Iranians have terror assets in Eastern Arabia and Bahrain as well as a presence in the UAE and Kuwait. Add to it a significant intelligence apparatus in Iraq and connections to the Hawthi rebels in Northern Yemen. That is the real map of Iranian threat in the region."
