Phares to France 24 Arabic: "US Congress is looking at history not at the present in recognizing the Armenian Genocide"
In an interview with France 24 TV Arabic Professor Walid Phares said the "latest vote in the international relations committee of the US House is about a confirmation of past American declarations since 1915, nothing really new. It is a process inside US legislative process which hasn't yet been completed. Turkey's AKP executive is reacting to an American legislative process which isn't yet adopted by the US executive." Answering a question, Phares said "candidate Obama had indeed promised to recognize the Armenian Genocide but as a President he won't, even though the majority of Democrats are pushing for it as a promise to millions of Armenian-Americans voters. The story is only beginning"
