Phares on France 24 Arabic: "Fadlallah, an Islamist scholar but also a doctrinaire of Jihadi terror"
In an interview on France 24 TV Arabic Professor Walid Phares said the Imam Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, mentor of Hezbollah, born in Najaf, was an ideologue and also an Islamist scholar. "The US didn't confront him as an intellectual but Fadlallah was the one who waged an ideological war by declaring America 'evil in essence' and condoning the Terror attacks of 1983 and the hostages taking in the 1980s with fatwas. The Jihadists are praising him as a hero while the victims of terror see him as a doctrinaire of Terrorism."

Phares to BBC Arabic Radio: "US commanders and policies may change in Afghanistan but the Jihadi threat is one"
Professor Walid Phares to BBC Arabic Radio: "US commanders and policies may change in Afghanistan but the Jihadi threat, represented by al Qaeda, the Taliban and their ideology is one. The media is often hungry for sensationalism related to personalities, overlooking geopolitical realities which are the essence of the conflict. It boils down to understanding the strategic threat and countering it thoroughly. Generals can make a difference, but only if the real threat is identified."

Phares to France 24 Arabic: "They may be two views on the war in Afghanistan in Washington"
Professor Walid Phares to France 24 TV Arabic on General Mc Crystal's removal and the appointment of General Petraeus: "If anything this shows two views in the US on how to proceed in Afghanistan. Both views calls for fighting the Taliban, training the Afghan Army. But the potential disagreement is about the future of an armed Taliban in Afghanistan. The change of commanders is surely because of disciplinary measures but it could reflect a wider debate later."

Phares to BBC Radio Arabic: "The US and the UN Security Council should isolate Iran's regime before the latter surprises the world with nukes"
Professor Walid Phares in an interview with BBC Radio Arabic: "The US and the UN Security Council should isolate Iran's regime before the latter surprises the world with nukes. The US Administration may have an opportunity now to have Russia, Europe on board, China not opposed and Arab moderates discretly backing sanctions. Turkey, Brazil and Lebanon will abstain in support of Iran. The window is now, but short."
