Professor Walid Phares moderated a "Moderate Muslims Summit" initiated by Rep Myrick in the US Congress. "This is an initiative to encourage diversity within the Muslim American community as it debates foriegn affairs, national security and counter radicalization," said Phares.

In a lecture to the Future National Leaders Camp in Norfolk, at the Regent University, Professor Walid Phares emphasized the importance of basic national security education in the classroom, and said the U.S. needs a renaissance in education to produce men and women who, in just ten short years, will be making decisions that will impact the entire world. "Your generation will find the solutions to many of the world's problems that my generation couldn't," he told the audience of campers and their parents. "The education you're getting in your classrooms and in experiences like Regent's Government Camp will prepare you to make rational decisions in the future."
